Cleveland Clinic vs. Case

Can other folks please comment on this? With the recent shifting of several faculty from Cleve Clinic to Case, it seems that Case has folks in every major area of neurology.

Also, shouldn't it rank higher than in the 10th group according to this post here?

One final thing - is there a lot of collaboration between the folks at CC and Case, seeing as how many of the CC faculty have joint apptments as faculty to CW Sch of Med?

For what it's worth, I am a MS3, and I just finished a month-long neuro rotation at CCF. I thoroughly loved my experience. The residents are very bright and collegial, and the seniors love to teach. I enjoyed all of the attendings I worked with. The focus of the program was definitely on education. I had not considered neuro prior to this rotation, but now it's on my specialty differential. I have had no exposure to Case's neuro program so I cannot compare the two for you.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself and as a result are seriously considering neuro. I have to say that my M3 rotations with neuro weren't the best (overworked residents, split over the Xmas holidays, disorganized but that was due to the course director getting ready to move to another job elsewhere), but besides the fact that it encompassed my research interests, I found the quirkiness/personalities/desire to teach from the faculty to be the final push towards neuro.
Good luck and thanks for take the time to share your experience!

I am a med student at Case, quite liked my neuro rotation there (did it at University Hospitals not the Clinic) & think it's probably on the way up since they've recently hired a bunch more people & are completing a big facility expansion in 2010. The attendings I had were friendly, intelligent, & cared about teaching; they are particularly strong in stroke. Residents seemed laid back and to get along well, there were maybe 20-30% FMGs all of whom were bright. They definitely didn't seem overworked/stressed.

Don't know as much about the Clinic program; it is true that Case/UH recently lured away a bunch of their top stroke and EEG/epilepsy faculty, the CCF is loaded with money though so it's only a matter of time before they make a comeback. It is definitely possible to make research collaborations with CCF which a lot of the faculty do (also with anyone at the Wade Park VA); most of the UH residents seemed more clinically oriented though.
