Hey guys I wanted some advice from other people.

I want to know which schools are friendly to out - of -state students. By that I mean they actually give some money (it cost like 4x In state fees) to OOS.

My family income bracket is like 140-160k a year (before taxes) and some property.

Can anyone list schools that:
1. Are not super expensive and give money to people in my bracket. How much?
2. Are not super big; have small classroom sizes (professors actually know you and you get more hands on learning)
3. Lots of opportunities (research, etc.)
4. NOT SUPER COLD WINTERS 😛
5. Not super hard, but a good school that accepts students with SAT scores of around 1900-2000, and SAT II of 740 and 680. GPA 3.86 UW (10-11).

Do some research on different colleges you are interested in. I don't know much about OOS schools sorry. For your family income, that is on the high-end I believe and I don't know if you are considered for need based scholarships. You will have to fill out your FAFSA (starting Jan 1,2010) to find out.

You won't get any need-based aid with that family income bracket.

Aww. It really sucks to have my parents pay so much money for college. 🙁

You can get merit based or even other scholarships, but schools aren't going to give you much because of the income. Also, watch your language, i'm pretty sure you are going to have a message in your inbox about swearing lol. (I received one the other day for a video i posted😀)

I've found that it is the small private schools tha offer the most merit-based scholarships. My family is in a similar financial braket and I have a 12k scholarship and in the running for a full scholarship. If you have a solid gpa (3.5+) and better than average SAT (1800+) you have a good chance. The only thing is that w/ the scholarship the privates schools still tend to be more than state schools.

The thing with private schools is that they have to offer bigger scholarships in order to cover tuition. Public schools that offer merit scholarships still usually end up cheaper.

Like, if someone gets a 10k merit scholarship from a private school with a 40k tuition, there is still a considerable amount to pay. A state school that offers a 10k merit scholarship could be more than the tuition itself.
