cornell housing

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I saw this thread when it was evolving...quite shocking. Yeah...let's just say Andy won't be going to NYC although it is a great city (good enough for me to visit). I like the part of the thread where people were thinking that the person was talking to himself on multiple accounts.

Well, you sorta get what you pay for. MSKCC has some nice housing, but a lot of it is on Roosevelt Island, and although you can be lucky to get some great views, the island has a grand total of one grocery store.
Also, I doubt that the cockroaches on Upper East Side are related to the ones in the East Village and Lower East Side. Now THOSE critters would scare the average-sized NYC dog, and make a large cracking sound when they're crushed (preferably with a steel-enforced heel).

Honestly.....would you consider Cornell as a potential contender if it weren't for the housing?

I am still considering Cornell as they are still on my rank list. Admittedly, the housing isn't a huge huge deal. But Cornell would move up the list (by just a tad) if the apartments were bigger and cheaper. However, the reason why they're ranked where they are on my ROL is due to what I gathered from the interview day. My impression was that there are several other programs where I would fit in better given my background.

I mean let's face it. Andy can live in a closet...doesn't matter, Andy's not gonna be a homebody during residency.

Housing or not, let's not knock Cornell entirely out of the water. I think their surg path is OK, and they're pretty visible in heme path.
