How common is dermabrasion?

The reason I ask is since I was looking at malpractice insurance for dermatologists in NYC and the rate for derms doing dermabrasion was 3x the rate for derms who don't.

Is this a particularly risky procedure akin to bariatric surgery for general surgeons?
 
Anyone with any info on this?
