I'm a medical student a couple weeks into dedicated radiology research. About 6 hours of my day are spent measuring things on abdominal CTs. By the end of each day, I have really bad eye strain that evolves into a terrible headache that takes about two hours to go away. I have messed with the brightness of my monitor and switched to using windows that aren't as bright when measuring/reading CT, but I still get this eye strain/headache.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this something that my eyes will eventually get used to? Is there something I can do to improve my "optic ergonomics" here to avoid this? Because, as much as I love radiology, I don't think I could do it for a career if this is how I feel at the end of every day for 2 hours.
Any thoughts or experiences or advice would be appreciated. I have had plenty of screen time (studying or video games) previously without this ever happening. There is something about these Barco monitors that make my eyes want to explode after a day's work.
