And I wouldn't rely on that post too much. That is a great idea, but it is primarily for the other grad students, who start school in (September?).
We will be having orientation 2.5 weeks after that weekend. If you wait til then to find a place, you will have that much time to sign a lease (assuming you can find a place you like that will be open in time) move your stuff, get settled and be ready for the beginning of school.
My suggestion, if people can afford it, is to go ahead and spend the extra money to come out on their own and find something. It will mean less stress at the beginning of school, and that is no small thing.

I just put in my application, but have friends in the area who gave me some housing insight.
Fist check out craigslist.org for wash,dc to find housing in Georgetown. It is expensive and best to rent a house with some friends. Lots of people live in Rosslyn. The bus ride is not as bad as some people make it out to be (I tried it out when I was visiting) and the rent in apartments there is much more affordable (and the apartments looked nicer than the smelly old houses). Plus it is more convenient to Metro and grocery store. If end up going, I am going to live in Rosslyn.

i was planning on sending in my app to the gtown smp this week. does anyone have any stats on their acceptance rate. my science gpa is a little below a three but my cumulative is much higher. i just took the mcat in april and am guessing my score will be in the 29-31 range. is it even worth applying? i'm specifically wondering if there's a 3.0 cut-off for science gpa. thanks so much!
