Hi everyone, I haven't posted around in a good while things have been kind of busy, but I haven't forgotten about SDN. I just wanted to share some news with all, I am so happy to go to college in the fall and have payed my deposit at my university, and committed myself to their joint BS/DMD program with NYU, and I can't wait. I know I have probably missed a lot of cool new threads and posts and stuff, has anyone else made up their minds about which school they are going too/ plans?

Congratulations!! Especially on that joint program--wow! 😀

I still haven't made my mind up and am worried sick about acceptances/rejections...which should be arriving soon! They drag this process out to no end. 🙄

Congrats! Remmeber , the joint program is not easy or guaranteed...so in fact my advice is...if they force you to major in Bio, like the 7 year Optometry program i got accepted to...and Bio is not what you want to do , DONT do it. From what i have learned, those BS/DDS or BS/OD programs require you to maintain a very good GPA and have good DAT scores....so essentially, even if you were not in the program you are still a competitive applicant.

Though the BS/DDS will help you remmber to not do anything you dont want to unless your comfortable with everything, if thats the case give your 110%

Hope you gonna get accepted man. Don't get so happy and eat too many candies so your teeth won't hurt.

Congratulations, love! Fantastic job! I'd love to college in New York--unfortunately, I'll be going to a little liberal arts school in Ohio. 'Cause, y'know, a full ride is a full ride. If all goes according to plan, I'll double-major in biology and computer science and then... go to med school, with any luck.

Hey man, congrats! Do you get any scholarship money? I know NYU is pretty expensive for dental school, not sure about medical school.

Thanks so much everyone! I see many new ppl, I need to friend them all. X) As far as scholarship money goes I have a full ride for undergrad, and I still have to meet criteria to guarantee a spot at NYUCD (one of which includes an interview so nothings rly guaranteed anyway lol). The one thing im rly anxious about is getting a part time job in undergrad, preferablly at a dental office. I am worried there won't be many jobs for a recent high school graduate part time, i am not sure if I would be seen as qualified? What do you guys think.

Wow congrats on your full ride, u are lucky. I think small little schools are the best, seems more personal.

You are right, and I thought the same thing, u need to maintain a good GPA and take the DAT with good scores and do an interview, its almost like not being in the program, if that makes sense! But 7 years saves u 1 year at least.
