I was watching late-night hair-transplanation infomercials the other night. reminded me of a discovery channel segment on hair transplantation...looked pretty painful. what kinda residency would you pursue (not that I'd ever be interested).

Hair transplantation is one of the most grueling career paths in Medicine. First you must do 5 years of General Surgery. Then you must do a 2 year Trasnplantation fellowship. Then you apply for a 3 year hair transplantation fellowship. This is one year of research at the Hair Club for men followed by a clinical year at Gore Vidal's hair salon academy in New York. The last year is the chief year where you start to do hair transplants yourself. This is a long but rewarding path. These fellowships are competitive so you might want to get some research on your CV.

Hot areas include: Ass/back hair transplantation, Living donor hair transplantion, and Xeno chimp to human hair transplantation.

Masonator...

You rock! Thanks for making my day

There was a guy in my hometown that was a plastics/cosmetic surgeon, who perfected this method (that he used on himself) to tap these sockets into the skull (4 of them), then had a rug that would snap on to these sockets, just like any other snaps on a jacket or whatever. It sounds weird, but was easy and looked pretty good.

This surgeon, however, was later convicted of trying to poison his wife and kid with arsenic. I don't know if he's doing jail-house tats now or what.

Damn..............!

This is definitely one of the funniest threads I've read on here for a while. Kudo's to Masonator for that one, nice.

In Guatemala they are doing flap technology which is truely cutting edge, circa WWI. First they relieve the ligaments throughout the lumbosacral spine with a combination of relaxin and microtears. Then the patient is folded into a severe jack knife position to the point where his head actually makes contact with his groin.

Next, incisions are made in both the scalp and groin of the patient allowing for a grafting procedure to take place. Over a series of months the bloodsupply is established to the epidermis containg pubic hairs from the groin via the scalp. Now the entire flap of rich lusterous pubic hair can be transplanted onto the patients scalp.

Styling is futile however as pubic hair tends to have a mind of its own.

keep laughing...these guys actually do make the high 6 low 7 figure salaries that people always talk about on this discussion board 😀 😀 😀

Same with those docs in gastric bypass... and plastics who take payment up front (not our reconstructive people).

Face it--no one wants to be bald, fat or ugly!

I'm a small girl (a little over 100 lbs, 5 ft 4 in). While contemplating what type of medicine I should practice, he told me to go into the whole weight loss field. Why? I'd have patients lining up to know my secret of how I stay so thin 🙂 And if you're wondering, free of charge, my secret is: 2 Burger King hamburgers 3 times a week

the stress diet works for me...and I also don't want to be a fat phuck either 👍

Our program has been experimenting with ultrasound and x-ray guided hair tranplant placement. We feel that it greatly improves accuracy in the placement of the hair follicles. Pretty soon it will be considered malpractice to do hair transpants without image guidance. I have heard cardiologists are already starting to do this procedure as well though.

Quit trying to play it off. We all know you cruise these boards trying to pick up on petite women. Sorry you got kicked off of petite co-ed slut match.com, but I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for here. On a more positive note: Listen, we all want a cute petite girl friend, really we do. But using the valuble SDN resources to fulfill these needs is trite, despicable, unprofessional, inconsolable, unpatriotic, inconscionable, and neigh-incontrovertibly anarcissistical. If you continue to proceed, then that means that the terrorists have won.

M,

very funny 👍 tushay (spelling??) I think I get your vibe my friend 😀 perhaps terpgirl will be able to share our affections in our very own little SDN love triangle...any ideas on where we should construct the love nest...perhaps we can ask VT for some help...that guy looks like one hell of a swinger 😉

I dont think you need to have any sort of specific residency training requirement to do hair transplants. One person I know who got certified to do hair transplants used to be an EM physician... go figure. I bet the money in that should be really great. Besides, do those things really work? I mean they take out a little piece from the back of your head... it seem mightly little hair to cover a full fledged solar panel on the top of a bald mans head.

****, we've been doing it for years in the ER. For $20 I'll shave the head of any drunk you pick and dermabond the hair to your bald head
