Title says it all. For those who applied in recent years, rougly how much money did you spend on everything including ERAS, flights, hotels?

Thanks!

First time applying, already spent over 5000 dollars, thats without any interviews in derm yet

😱

First time I applied, I spent a total of $6500 - $7000: applying to 84 derm programs and 12 prelims/tys, did 10 derm interviews and 7 ty interviews. I even stayed with friends over a hotel when I could, and had some multi-city trips rather than separate flights....

This time around I'll probably spend even more since I'm applying to most programs. save your pennies kids!

~$1700 application fees (applied to >60 derm and 8 tranny and 9 prelim)

I went on 18 of the derm interviews and probably ~8 internship, can't remember exactly, it was a blur.

~$3200 airfare, hotels, and gas
7 hotels I paid, few programs paid, lots of nights with friends/family
13 one way / round trip airfare (many trips were sequential) - planned ahead well by using interview schedule on DIG website to optimize travel
Use Southwest Airlines - they had $0 flight change fees which came in handy!
1 rental car out of town, lots of driving from home/relatives - 3000 miles of driving

total $4945.78
worth every penny to match at #1 choice!!

No...

what will be depressing is that after all of this, we dont match

that is depressing

How do you spend over $5000 already? I thought ERAS was $2500 total. Oh... are you counting all your flights for Prelim/TY?

I applied to something like 70 programs and definitely spent something on the order of 7-8 thousand once flights, hotels, car rentals, etc. were all totaled. I do not regret a dollar I spent. I matched at my number 2 place (out of 10 interviews).

approaching $5K without any derm interviews yet. Applied to >100 derm progs. Anticipate >$12K once it's all said and done. Makes me queasy just thinking about it. plus, i take step 2 smack dab in the middle of interview season. disaster time.

bump, (as the only thing left to spend on now is celebratory drinks)

Money well spent, congrats Izzy
