IM or Surgery PGY1? Does it matter?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There's transitional year, also. From what I understand, no radiology program is going to care which type of internship you complete. Surgery may be of modest benefit to those who want to do IR. If you're switching from another field, such as ob/gyn, peds, or family, these can also count towards completion of the PGY1 year of radiology.

Go to a place where you can retain as much of yourself as you can and be happy. I think the benefits of scutting surgery patients on the floor for a year are marginal to those dead-set on IR.
