interview for radiology

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
WOW!, Assuming you are not a troll. Just chill out... and wait for you things to get uploaded and such. They start reviewing what you submit, but they likely need 3 LOR's. Also, some schools wait for the MSPE before anything.
I haven't heard back from most schools, except I got 1 rejection. 🙁

Hang in there, you will see something in time. Its just a waiting game at this point -- a lot will shake out in the coming weeks.

I am really worry about the way you spell.

I hope you proofread your application before submitting it.

You proofread things.

You do not proofreading them.

I also hope you knew the difference between the two when applying. That could be why you have no interviews.

yikes.... the original message isn't really up anymore, but regardless, no matter how bad it was, there's no reason for everyone to gang up and be so harsh! lets all chill a bit, these are our future colleagues....

Out of curiosity, where'd the rejection come from? I've heard nothing yet.

Thank you for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Cleveland Clinic.
After a thorough review of your application, I regret to inform you that we cannot extend an invitation for you to interview with us. This is not a reflection on your excellent qualifications; it is simply a result of the large number of competitive applications we have received this year.
The Residency Selection Committee wishes you success with the application process and your future endeavors.
Best Regards,

Did anyone receive an invite form a transitional program yet? I haven't heard anything so far. 🙁

I applied broadly (25 radiology, 14 transitional, and 10 prelim-medicine) and the only invite I've received so far was from one of the local preliminary medicine programs.

Don't start hyperventilating yet. 😉

Did any of the programs you apply to already send invites? I've only received one invite so far (rads). But what's worrying me is that 2 programs I applied to already sent invites. I applied on 9/13, so I'm not sure whether they left me for another round.

Also, do you guys know when IM programs start sending prelim invites?

No prelim/TY invites.

gonogo, two of the radiology programs I've gotten invites from had already sent invitations 1-2 weeks earlier, but only I heard from them this week --- so just because a program is inviting doesn't mean that it's time to worry. Interviews tend to go out in batches. It could mean that those programs haven't gotten to your file yet.

Do you mind to tell us which programs sent out invitation already? I got two invitations from the preliminary surgery programs.

1.)Albert Einstein college of medicine, NY
2.)Caroilion hospital, VA

There's a thread on auntminnie that lists many rads/ty/prelim programs that have already sent out interviews. The list is up to ~15-20 rads programs and a handfull of TY's last time I looked. Not many big academic places have offered Rads interviews yet, with the exceptions of Michigan and the Cleveland Clinic, so I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard anything from the big universities yet.

Agreed, look on Aunt Minnie --- it's a lot more active than this board.

I haven't heard from any radiology programs yet.

I did get an interview offer today from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for their prelim-medicine year.

Checked the aunt... thread, many programs have already sent out the intervews. Big schools also include UVA, Baylor, U of Texas, Houston.....I am really panicing 😱

I know it doesn't mean anything coming from another applicant, but I really wouldn't panic right now. I think the interviews going out right now are going to: a) the stellar applicants that programs don't need to wait for a Dean's letter to know they're good (i.e. - 250+ with AOA or MS/PhD/Tons of Research), b) local applicants for lower->mid tier programs.

There was a rumor last year that Michigan, for example, interviews all applicants who are AOA and above their "minimum" board score. No regional preference or any of that. Once they go through that list, then they go to the non-AOA'ers. That was just a rumor, and may be a bunch of hooey, but I know a girl who got an interview there <24 hrs after she updated her application to reflect her election to AOA.

On the other hand, MGH has absolutely no incentive to offer a ton of interviews right now, because they know if they offer 60 interviews in late December, they'll interview all 60 of those people whenever the hell they feel like.

So if you're not getting any feedback right now, you might fall into the non-AOA/non-superstar category like the rest of us. But have no fear, we're >90% of the applicant pool, so I highly doubt you're at any significant disadvantage right now.

What do you think about the lower tier community places? I was really surprised not to get invitations from a couple of them. Is it because they're also only inviting the top candidates at this point?

I'm just an applicant, so take my analysis with a grain of salt.

The lower tier community programs are traditionally going to fill with fewer superstars than the big University programs. One could imagine they would thus extend fewer interviews to the superstars, unless the applicant has an expressed interest in the program. Given they are picking from a cohort of 'non-superstars', there's no reason to jump the gun and send out interviews from day 1, and risk interviewing a bunch of applicants with Dean's letters that say "applicant X is a serial killer". I imagine the community program floodgates will open very shortly after Dean's letters are released. Again, just an educated guess on my part.

So as I said before, I think only the superstars and the local "known commodities" are getting any invites this early in the game.

It's easy to say this when you have a Hopkins interview sitting in your pocket. 🙄

No hate here, congrats man.
