Iowa

U of Iowa is a great training program. Why is it not more competitive for US grads? They seem to be the only great program filled with many IMGs

Because people who get into medical school have a coastal bias and think the Midwest is just flyover country. There are a lot of great programs in the midwest that are much better than some NE and cali programs but the young generation values geography over training.

Iowa isn't the only good program with IMGs either and they decided IMG over DO whereas other programs chose DO over IMG.

For the most part, US seniors can go to a better location. As to why Indiana can fill with their own graduates and Iowa not, I am not sure.

Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee.

...yeah, not the part of the country where I'll fit in.

Midwest is not for everyone. Anyway, there are a good number of better programs in midwest than U of Iowa.
