The last two months have been crazy for me and I never got my thank-you letters out. I am mailing them out today. Do you think it is too late?
 
Not necessarily. Programs usually don't finalize their rank lists until at least middle of february. I contacted a couple of programs in early feb last year about step II results and I got a couple of replies about how it was good timing because they were going to meet soon to finalize the rank list.

damn! why did i have to put off step 2 until this friday?

bah who am i kidding, i'm not as special as yaah or never will be...
 
Depends. We finalized our list last Monday.

But its a nice touch to send the letters so if you have the time, as others have said, some programs are still finalizing their lists so it might make a difference (albeit not significant) at those places.
 
Better to send them now than to not send them at all.

kimberly, are u referring to all residency programs at Penn State, or just PSU surgery?
