I have a derm question: Why is povidone iodine not used more often in derm to treat fungal or bactericial topical conditions like athlete's foot or tinea? Why use something like mupirocin or fungal treatments when the iodine is cheaper? I just ask this after seeing it spread on every surgical site and being told it kills almost all fungus and bacteria very quickly. Thanks for the help in understanding!
