Hey all, could someone help me out here please? I want to attend an SMP program next year (fall 06) but recently was told that they are for minorities (I am not a minority). Is this true? I've researched SMP programs at Drexel, BU, Georgetown, Syracuse, IU, UMDNJ, Rosalind Franklin, Loyola, and NYMC. Are all of these schools only interested in minorities? Traditionally, the reason minorities are preferred is becuase they are underpriviliged, but these programs are in the range of $20,000 to $30,000+. Please help. I haven't taken the MCAT yet (next April) but my GPA will be around 3.3 when I graduate in May, so I figured I'd go ahead and apply to an SMP program. Seems to be the best thing for me to do... any advice would be most welcome 🙂

All of the smp programs you named are for everyone. They wouldn't care if you were purple just as long as you have competitive stats and can fork out the cash. Most of these programs require the MCAT but some will take the GRE.
