Hi all!

I'm stuck in a bind. I'm currently classes through UCLA Extension to finish up my pre med reqs. I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics and Latin American Studies and completed some of the pre med classes as an undergrad. I am currently taking molecular biology and am not doing well in the class. I am debating over whether to drop the class and get a W on my transcript or try to ace the final exam and get a B in the class. (Currently I have a C and I would have to do really well on the final to barely scratch the surface to get a B). My undergrad overall science GPA is a 3.2 and cumulative GPA is 3.4. If I take the chance for the final exam and get a C, I know that my GPA will go down but at the same time I am wondering if that is better than having a W on my transcript. The doctors that I work with suggest its probably better to drop. My science grades range between B- to A. I don't know what to do & I'm really stressing out now. Please help! :scared:

Well, I'm thinking that a W is better than a C. BUT, I would only suggest dropping if you plan on retaking it at a later time. I think if you could retake it and ace the class then that would sort of redeem yourself from a W.

Thanks for the tip. I also forgot to mention. I currently work full time as a clinical research coordinator and I had recently transitioned to the new job while I was taking the class so I had to go through training classes and stuff of that sort. As an undergrad, I had many volunteer activities going on - particularly many either working in a hospital setting or doing community outreach. :scared:

Thank you again for your feedback!

Oh well with working full-time it's no wonder the class stressful! I'm sure you'll have no problem getting that A next time around.

And yeah, one lonely little W isn't going to stand out in the sea of wonderfulness that I'm sure is in your application 🙂

If you would like another personal opinion, I would drop too.
