The program is filled with pretty happy residents who mostly chose it for the location. Mt Sinai is literally right next to the beach. You can go fishing on the intercoastal from the parking lot. The PD has changed over, but the prior PD is still working there. There is a Harvard grad there that chose to go there for location who is now the chief resident. I was told that with the new PD they are looking for a "different type of candidate" than they were last year. It used to be that rotating there and meeting the PD almost guaranteed an interview offer, but that no longer holds true. They used to take DO's and FMG's who had excellent stats, not sure if that still holds true. They do have some weaknesses, but they are very strong in mammo (actually have a fellowship). At least they have full PACS. I would consider it a middle tier community program.
