Does anyone know why the NBEO "adjusts" our scores? Why do they take 6-8 weeks to shove those scantrons in the scantron machine? Why can't they just give us our raw scores fair and square? What is that secret formula that's "too complex to give out."

The board ends up going over the test question by question. They look at all the numbers and comments and determine if the question was fair or not. They typically through out 12 or so questions, at least that was what I was told. For those right on the border, that could make a real difference, so I guess I'm glad they take the time to make sure every question was a good one.

But in reality, I wish they would send a preliminary score to us through email. Most of the test that are given online give a preliminary score, and then send an adjust score later. The score does not change very often.

it's scaled.. so they have to calculate it based on what the average is for each testing. Trust me you do NOT want your raw score !!! (especially on part 1)

OK. I'll take your word on it.

Anyone know why our boards cost so freaking much for every part. I think we have the most expensive set of boards. So, someone is getting very rich off all us poor humble students.

$625 I think is the cost per part now, I forget to add that.

I do believe it's because there are fewer of us than there are MD/DOs... but they hvae to create just as stringent of a test, with all the same statistical analysis. The cost of administering a test like that is exorbent. But, I also can't believe it works out to 650 per part per person....

Thanks that makes sense, but still a high cost for tests.

the people administering the test seemed slightly out of it... not really sure how things were suppose to go... kind of strange

Yea, I think they are volunteers. (Lions Club maybe?).

isn't that weird? some of them looked kind of shady to me... i mean, they were letting people in an out of the room (although they did escort them, i wonder if they really followed them into the washrooms)... one guy kept going to the washroom, like 4 times!!!
