new fellowship

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Clinical neurophysiology classically is what you mentioned, EMG + EEG, as well as EP. There are many programs across the country that allow you to split your time evenly (or unevenly if your desires are to learn a bit more than the other) between EEG and EMG. Epilepsy now being recognized by the ABMS/ABPN could push a trend away from classic clinical neurophys fellowships. That being said, there has been a nationwide trend away from clinical neurophys fellowships for years now before epilepsy being recognized, likely due to more intense/volume of presurg eval/spell characterization as well as IOM.

I think some epilepsy programs also encompass clinical training in epilepsy (outpatients, therapy, research, etc...) as well as neurophysiological training. EEG fellowships are all about neurophysiology. correct me if I'm wrong!

My 2cents-

What I learned about epilepsy fellowship while on my 4th year Neuro rotation at my med school- it's popular with practicing community neurologists that feel epilepsy management had advanced so much since their original neurology residency. This is from talking to a couple of our current epilepsy fellows.
