Have any of you worked at a hospital I.R. Dept. that went nurse driven as part of reaching Nurse Magnet status, i.e., Nurses as dept. director, manager, etc. If so, how has it worked out: were they responsive to the needs of the doctors, nurses and technologists within the labs, do they demonstrate an understanding of the different roles and thought-processes/training of each, respecting the perspectives of each along with recognizing all of their distinctly critical contributions? Were they able to keep the dept running reasonably smooth and employees satisfied enough that you felt you were in an environment conducive to training in that you had sufficient support from other staff as needed?
