optional photo in apps?

I've never understood why they would need this. This was a big turnoff to me when I saw some apps had this. Outside of ID purposes, why would they need this? Why wouldn't bringing in a driver's licence or passport or ofiicial picture ID suffice? 😕 Why do they need to see what one looks like when they read our app? 👎

ya it is odd that they want an optional picture...

it doesn't even say passport style or anything, just says optional picture.
DID ANYONE SEND IN A PICTURE? any ideas on what they are looking for?
 
I think I sent a picture. I think they just want a head start memorizing names and faces, etc.
 
Geez, think about it. A photo teels them about professional appearnace - tattoos, piercings, spiked hair, plus more. Not a bad filter.
