Physician assistants want to be called physician associates, but doctors cry foul
PAs say the new title would clarify that they work in a team and don't require direct oversight by M.D.s. Doctors say it obscures the fact that PAs have less education and training than physicians.
Ugh
I wonder if they truly believe they are leading the team or keeping the "fake it till you make it" attitude that they are indoctrinated into.
Make no bones about it, the media is sympathetic to the idea of noctors pretending the part. Standing outside a clinic, in a lab coat, with a stethoscope around the neck. Feels that assistant is an inflammatory term but voluntarily joined the vocation which as it currently stands are called physician assistants. Keeps mentioning team care but doesn't mention who leads the team.
Sounds like a blatant power grab. Makes me wonder how much longer before AAs start claiming equivalency as the Association of Anesthetists.
