Ugh

I wonder if they truly believe they are leading the team or keeping the "fake it till you make it" attitude that they are indoctrinated into.

Make no bones about it, the media is sympathetic to the idea of noctors pretending the part. Standing outside a clinic, in a lab coat, with a stethoscope around the neck. Feels that assistant is an inflammatory term but voluntarily joined the vocation which as it currently stands are called physician assistants. Keeps mentioning team care but doesn't mention who leads the team.

Sounds like a blatant power grab. Makes me wonder how much longer before AAs start claiming equivalency as the Association of Anesthetists.

All of medicine is being attacked. In 10-20 years it’s going to suck being a patient in America. What’s next? Medical assistants becoming medical associates? Holistic medicine doctors practicing at the top of their license and doing botox and liposuction? Hell, barbers should do surgery too since they were the first surgeons. If you can pay congress enough you can make it all happen, it will improve access to care!

Tbh I welcome every mid level profession trying to play doctor. It only brings more attention to these charlatans trying to practice medicine. There will be tons of stories of “my doctor f’ed up but turns out he wasn’t really a doctor wtf.”

The last three hospitals I worked at don't even have doctor's lounges. They were viewed as unegalitarian and removed.
This is sadly reality in much of the northeast. Surprisingly, this was the one nice thing about the whole burnout zeitgeist: it started bringing back some perks.

We've never pretended to be equivalent to physicians. I wish folks would quit wondering about it.

I am more pro-AA than most here I expect, but you have to admit with PA’s recent campaigns (despite being under board of medicine) the argument that AA’s would never seek equivalency because they’re under the board of medicine are less convincing.
