So I submitted my application several weeks back because I didn't really expect the status of my paper submissions to change within a few weeks, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear that one of my papers got accepted yesterday. Do you think it's worth updating programs right now? Or should I wait until interviews start to go out? Also, I know this has been discussed before so I apologize for asking this again but what's the best way to go about updating programs? Thanks in advance.

Updating is a legit excuse to contact programs again and float your name, IMO. I would just pick the programs you are most interested in and email their listed contact person directly. Keep your message short and to the point; a paper you wrote was recently accepted for publication, with a short blurb about the topic of the paper.

Truth....and I'd probably try to time it right before Dean's Letters go out so it's right around when they'll start reviewing apps, but not too late that your app will already be under review.

A paper.

Are you talking about a first-authored study? 👍

Are you talking about a first-authored case report? 😎

Are you talking about a middle-coauthored study? :lame:

Are you talking about a coauthored case report?

Thanks for all the replies. I was wondering, is it possible to just upload a document with new additions to your CV through ERAS? or maybe just put it down under "personal statements" and just title it as "updates" or something to that effect..

I would write a formal letter updating the program. Much more professional.

I don't think you can alter anything on ERAS other than letters or personal statements. I'd just do it separately.

No such way to update ERAS as far as I know.

You could alternatively talk to your dean and have it added as a special note in your MSPE... if you're not comfortable writing to the programs.

That's actually a really good idea. I wonder why I never thought of that, heh. Can anyone think of a reason not to do this? and thanks again for everyone's input.
