I am posting the following question for my friend.
He is an international student and has just completed his Internship year abroad. He went on a few interviews in the US for a position in Radiology. He applied for preliminary years and for advanced positions. Now it turns out that the ABR is likely going to accept his internship year that he did abroad. Can he rank PGY-2 advanced positions without supplemental? Or due to NRMP rules will he lose the advanced position if he doesnt do a preliminary year? He is happy to wait the year and then just come to the US for his advanced position.

You can match advanced and not match prelim but I'm not sure on the rules dictating your friends position. Program specific?
