My goal is to get a permission to work in radiology in the United States, now I am last year medical student and I want to summary all possible pathways for my goal.*
First way - classic radiology residency. This situation is classic, a lot of information is available, so most of questions are about other way, - Alternative Pathway with non-US residency completing.*
*
I know there is a special page here (http://www.theabr.org/ic-int-dr), but I still have some questions.
*
1) what is "training appointment and/or full-time faculty/fellowship appointment in an institution with a diagnostic radiology training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).". How can I understand is my residency approved or not? May be somewhere exists a special list of forein residencies? Or should my residency chief write a letter to ACGME and approve my 4 year educational combination?
2) what is clinical training? Is that therapeutic internship or not? In my country I have radiology internship (yes, it is called internship, as I understand in USA internship is always internal medicine programm), so would radiology internship fit as clinical training?
3) is board essential for fellowship in the US, or there are other ways to get an appointment after completing russian residency?
4) I might be missed some opportunities, am I? Who knows?
