What is everyone's opinion on who overall has the better lifestyle when comparing Radiology to Anesthesia (pay, controllable hours, work schedule, future outlook)?

You don't have to like anatomy, pathology, or imaging to do rads. Similarly you don't need to like physiology or critical care to do anesthesia. You just need to be averse to working hard and have an expectation to make money hand over fist when you finish your cake walk residency. In fact ask the same question in the anesthesiology forum.

Who has the better lifestyle?!? Those are two of the most bawllinest specialties around...

You wanna see how the average radiologist or anesthesiogist lives?

oh my god that is some funny $$%^

Strange....that is exactly how I was raised. My dad was a saver though so we didn't use diamonds, but rather emeralds.

are you serious??? I heard Anesthesia is stressful, actually a PD in NY had like quadruple bypass heart surgery and he doesnt even have any family history of heart difficulties whatsoever. Also my uncle in private practice said Anesthesia can be stressful. Rads I do not think that I can even imagine being stressful, although those residents work very hard. Lol, was doing my GI rotation, and for the first time ever, noticed that my preceptor looked at who read the films, for instance CT report the next day, after I told him what the results were he always wanted to know the name of the Radiologist who read them too. When I asked him why he wanted to know that type of information, he said that one or two Radiologists on staff he doesnt trust at all whatsoever, and when they do a reading he always gets a second opinion from a different radiologist. Ha ha . Maybe thats why this particular GI doc is not very popular.

cannot believe that I spelled that wrong lol...thats what I get for dry as hell contact lenses postcall and no sleep.....
quadruple bypass, then again he also cheated on his wife and she found out, so that probably contributed to his stress level.
Anesthesia can have a high stress level though, money and lifestyle are attractive however.
