Wonder if anyone out there knows how one can obtain residency funding for...say switching into one field from another. For example, if you started as a pgy1 in family medicine, and then decided to switch to surgery, medicare will only fund a total of 3 years. Any one know how to get around this? can you accept a spot and be a non-paid resident of your own volition? Is that legal?
