Resident Salary Question

I am currently completing a first year position in a residency program, and at the end of the year (June) I will be changing to a new residency. The new program is in a different specialty, and I will have to start over as a first year again. Even though I will be starting over, should I expect to get paid as a PGY2 or PGY1. Are there any ACGME guidelines that would dictate the pay level?

Probably PGY1. If someone quit surgery after 4 years to do path, I doubt they would be paid as a PGY5.

pgy-1. unless the change is from prelim medicine to rads, or something similar to that.
