Thich Nhat Hanh, poetic peace activist and master of mindfulness, dies at 95

Thich Nhat Hanh, the Zen Buddhist monk, poet and peace activist who in the 1960s came to prominence as an opponent of the Vietnam War, died on Saturday aged 95 surrounded by his followers in the temple where his spiritual journey began.

My wife and I walked the Camino de Santiago a few years ago. 500+ miles from village to village, chapel to chapel, through the Spanish countryside. The second day, we saw his book, “how to walk,” in a give-away pile at the hostel. It guided the whole rest of our trip and we’ve never been the same since. His death is a loss to the world.

Wow. Sounds like a fantastic trip.


One of his quotes, a reminder to be conscious, went something like this….walk as if you are kissing the ground with your feet

Not to derail, but yes, the best trip we’ve ever taken. Highly recommend.
