I was wondering if there were any members on here that have attended or are privy to Roswell Park Cancer Center (2 year SPECIAL MASTER's program) ?
How does it compare to other established SMPs like Drexel, Finch or Georgetown?
I am seriously contemplating on applying to it - it'd be nice to get a perspective on it.
yeah, I was in the MS Natural Sciences program at RPCIfrom 2000-2002, applied while I was in the program with a 2.93 undergrad, 3.81 grad, 30 MCAT, got 4 us MD interviews, nothing but one measly wailtlsit at NYMC, applied a 2nd time following graduation and while doing a year in AmeriCorp, got 2 interviews(SUNY Upstate and Drexel) and am currently a 2nd year at Drexel, so I am not so sure about the program, ithink it helps if your GPA is at a certain level i think, so other friends and lab mates of mine in the program had higher undergrad GPA(3.2-3.5)(MCAT 27-32) and got in the first time, my only quam with the program is they treat you like crap, and you could make up your own grad program by taking some classes on a graduate level without officially enrolling in a master's program that you might encounter in med school either 1st or second year(like Biochem, Histology, Physiology, etc), and just volunteer at a lab and also volunteering would be good, but make sure the PS don't take advantage of you, mine sure did, avoid the immunbo dept, if you have to pick an area of research, the more clinically oriented the research the better, stay away from pure basic sciences (esp the immuno dept, its messed up there), hope tha thelps
