so I trying to decide what I want to do after residency. Gen peds vs hospitalist vs urgent care. I feel like a lot of my co residents are tight lip about what they are being offered right out of residency. I know a lot is going to depend on location but I want to know what I should be expecting and not taken advantage of. So what is the starting salary for a fresh out of residency? For gen peds, hospitalist, or urgent care

Here's a ballpark (expect on the lower side probably closer to 25% percentile). The 3 groups you mentioned are probably pretty similar.
Pediatricians, General

That being said, salary is all about need... what the employer needs. If the employers needs you more, you ask for more. If the employer doesn't need you so much, you get what you get.

Fresh out of residency, I was offered $187K for Urgent Care (pediatric specific).

Gen Peds is probably going to be a bit more variable--a lot of places give you a salary for a couple years, then base your income on your revenue. You see more patients, you get paid more. How that is actually structured is going to vary significantly from practice to practice. My clinic attendings in residency would estimate their productivity for the year, and if they estimated too high, they had to pay back the extra funds. If they estimated too low, they got a bonus check.
