Any advice on which CCs are good for the basic premed reqs (Gen Chem, Org, Bio, Phys)? Or comments on other science classes at these CCs? And which professors are good?

SMC
PCC
LACC
Glendale

And some more obscure ones such as Citrus, ELAC, LA Valley, etc.

Also curious about whether the classes are any higher quality at
CSULA, CSULB and CSUDH.

Thanks.

Any of the CC's are good, just make sure that your classes are transferable to the UC/CSU system.

The classes at the UC/CSU schools may be a bit "better" but there is a LOT of trouble with the budget now getting into them.

BTW, if you're interested in an alternative, accredited school where you can get the pre-reqs on weekends (sat/sun for a full month per class) check out http://newcollege.edu/science/calendar.html. Expensive (compared to a CC) but a LOT quicker.

In order of my preferences:

CSUN
LA Pierce College
LA Mission College
West Valley College
SMC way on the bottom

Curious! Thanks for the reply. CAn you elaborate a little more qualitatively? What classes did you take at each CC? And why's SMC way on the bottom?

You should fufill the prereqs at a 4 year university. Doing it at CC's will put you at risk for needing additional upper division work.

In California, the CC's are directly equivalent to undergrad work at the UC/CSU campuses. If someone were to complete their lower division requirements (including the med school prereqs) at a California CC, they would be able to graduate with a degree from UCLA, which frankly is good enough.
