Anyone writing them?

Are they necessary?

I think I had a pretty positive interview at SCCO. I hear it is customary to send thank you letters after the interview, but I don't wanna seem like i'm kissing butt.

What do write on a thank you letter anyways?

"thanks for the interview. hope to see you in the fall!"

😕

I think that writing a thank you letter for an interview is silly. You earned the interview on the basis of your application/achievements to date - not because they decided to be nice to you and give you an interview. No thank you required.

Reference letter writer thank you's on the other hand - now those are important.

But that's just my opinion....I'd love to hear some others.

send thank you's if you really enjoyed the interview and received positive vibes from the interviewers. this will make you stand out. definitely, do not kiss butt, but make it genuine that you received some valuable information to help you decide on considering their school. thank you letters should be simple. and although we deserve the interview, it's always polite to send thank you's.

From what I understand, but schools decide wether you are in or not the same day you interview, if not then, with in a couple days. So by the time you write and mail the thank you card, they have already decided. Besides, most of the time, the interviewer does not make the choice. They just make a recommendation to the admissions commity. The iterviewer will decide if they like during the interview and will write "good" or "bad" as soon as you leave the room. So if I was going to write a letter, it would be to the admissions commity, not the interviewer.

ICO notified my of my acceptance so quickly, the card never would have made a difference.

So in short, if you write a thank you, make sure you are duing it just to thank them for the wonderful conversation, because it really will have no effect on whether you get in or not.

I think sending a thank you note is just a polite way of saying, "hey, thanks for your time and i really enjoyed meeting you." Simple as that. Doesn't mean kissing someone's butt or kissing up to the committee. You're in or not, it's all about your grades, experience, and how well you present yourself that day. Just think, a thank you note can't change their mind, but it shows them the kind of person that you are...the one who remembers the fruit of the tree he ate 😎
