The 2010 Dermatology Application Season

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Was there not another thread like this? Regardless, good luck to all.

How soon do you guys start hearing back with interview offers?

Good luck everyone!

Prelims come quickly especially next month. Don't despair if you don't get derm interview offers because the majority (meaning a significant majority) will not go out until Dean's letters go out. You will hear about all kinds of interview offers ahead of the dean's letter being sent and you will all see it being posted here on SDN. Please, please do not drive yourself to the limits of sanity when you see this because it is only a minority of programs that send out interviews before the dean's letter goes out...some of these programs will be from institutions that have name recognition but do not get down, or frustrated, or drive yourself to sleepness nights. The interviews mostly come after Dean's letters so be patient and focus on the prelims and transitional interview offers that tend to come earlier as a way to pump yourself up for the dermatology application marathon.

Please everyone, take a deep breath (this is so useful more often than you think) and good luck!!! :luck:

Got my first interview!!!!

Puerto Rico!!!

Just kidding. Good luck all! This is gonna be one hell of a ride.

Agreed. It's gonna truly some kinda experience over the next 198 days.

By the way, I think PR would be a great place to do a dermatology residency. That being said, I would do a dermatology residency on the moon or in the 8th circle of hell (if need be), if either had an accredited program.

Thats good ...we should start a thread of where would go if it were accredited

I would do a residency in the ninth circle of hell, or antarctica, or Nebraska just to practice derm...

i would do a residency on my grandmother's taint. this would be both emotionally and physically uncomfortable, not to mention impossible. however, if her taint started a residency, i'd do one there.

lol gross

Has anybody heard a rumor about certain pharmaceutical companies funding additional spots...? 😡

No but you think congress would unfreeze some CME funding in this proposed health care reform so that a great number of people have access to specialized care...sheesh

Pfizer probably wont be sponsoring any additional spots soon since they just got sued for 2.3 Billion

hmm...i guess anonymity makes us feel freer to speak our minds...

I posted one of my hobbies in the main eras forum, and promptly got an email from a mod saying that next time i did it my account would be revoked. clearly people are a bit uptight 'round these parts. or maybe i'm just a bit too nuts. probably a combination.

my hobby that i left off eras starts with an M and requires some 'alone time'

I have heard of this in the past, but that class has now graduated.

Hobby/Interests I left off my ERAS:

- My fondness for trying pretty much any new cosmeceutical that comes out, including various lasers, fillers, botulinum (Dysport rocks), peels...you get the picture. Kind of like futurederm.com but I'm not into department store brands. I want to know what patients experience.

- Fine dining: my quest to dine at all all award-winning James Beard chef/restaurant wins in the year, plus as many S. Pellegrino "World's Best 50 Restaurants" as possible

- Reality TV shows...
