On June 2000, cedricw is an undergraduate who is attempting to get into medical school. Having applied to allopathic schools and been rejected, he now contemplates turning to osteopathic schools. Not actually knowing why he wants to be a DO, he posts his first thread: Interview advice for why I want to be a DO. Rationalizing his new approach to medical school, he says "in all honesty, I would go to a DO school in a heartbeat and I really feel I would be happy as a DO."

Later that month, cedricw is pulled off the waitlist at an midwestern allopathic school. Showing a knack for speaking out of both sides of his mouth, he rails against "the bias I have seen towards DOs from pre-MDs" and claims to "admire the fact that many of you choose DO", while immediately embracing his new allopathic status. Ironically, considering his future posts towards aspiring undergraduates and FMGs pursuing a medical career, he says "it is scary to think that a future healthcare provider could have so much jealousy and hate in his heart simply because someone is a little different."

Flash forward to 2004, when cedricw finally feels comfortable enough with his medical school status to start ripping on those who used to be in his own position. "How about this idea...go to einstein and stop trying to steal all of the california spots when you obviously don't deserve it."

Quickly hitting his stride - and forgetting his own history of medical school rejection - cedricw then begins to target FMGs. "YOU MOST CERTAINLY ARE LESS DESERVING OF THAT POSITION THAN ME!! ...boohoo, boohoo...uh, YOU DID NOT GET ACCEPTED TO MEDICAL SCHOOL BUDDY!!" "You were obviously too dumb to get into medical school ...People may be polite to your face, but the truth is no matter where you go you are going to have a hard time convincing many people (including yourself) that you are a REAL doctor on the same level as the rest of us."

I did not edit any of these statements. They were simple cut-and-pastes.

Thanks for pointing out such a prime example of hypocrisy, Kinetic! I'm not even bothered by cedricw anymore. His comments are obviously baseless and I wonder whether he is going into medicine for the right reasons himself. Cedricw, go ahead write all you want....I have no desire to waste any more time reading them.
 
Whoa. Come on, no need to dig up ANY user's old posts (up to 4 years old?!).
 
I don't normally, but there are two things:

1) He continues to post very inflammatory statements which usually consist of degrading people by calling them stupid and unfit. I don't advocate censoring him, but I do think that in light of these statements it is fair to reveal his own past.

2) It's just plain funny. It's rare that you get to see the documented evolution of someone from whimpering, rejected supplicant to arrogent, condescending bully. Where else can you get this for free? (And haven't you all seen these people and wondered what they were like when they were younger? Now you know!)
 
Fun as it may be, remember that singling out a member for ridicule/abuse it a TOS violation - even when its someone who has been a nuisance himself.

At any rate, we are in the process of restricting cedricw's usage of the SDN Forums.
 
I followed these threads and all I can say is how incedibly sad. A guy posts arguments that were very thought out and intelligent as to why foreign med grads should not be allowed to practice in the USA (granted they were emotional posts), then the foreign med grads on here get irate over it and attack him. Then the mods ban him for stirring up trouble. And you guys were calling him a bigot and a nazi?? No wonder why I hardly ever post on here.

I didn't even see that the censors have gotten to cedricw already. Maybe we should create another forum for American allopaths and pre-meds so that we can have honest discussions and express our opinions without the fear of being censored.

If we use terminologies frequently thrown around by cedric's opponents, the action taken by the Mods would be considered gestapo-like...
 
He should be able to post all he wants. He hasn't threatened to kill anybody or used commonly offensive language.

This forum is for discussion and debate, correct? If you don't like what he has to say, don't read it.

I don't necessarily agree with his opinions but who cares? This is an internet discussion board, not church, congress, or the ICU!

Perspective please.

You think calling people dumb and undeserving is "thought out and intelligent"? Maybe it's a good thing you hardly ever post on here.

P.S. I'm a graduate of a U.S. allopathic medical school. It's sorta funny that you are so petty that you can't imagine people sticking up for others. Whether I agree or disagree with cedricw's position, his words are clearly derogatory and - as demonstrated by the chronology I posted - very hypocritical, coming from a guy who was himself shown the door by U.S. medical schools.

Hey, I'm not trying to censor him. I'm just doing a cut-and-paste job with his own words. And I clearly stated in one of my replies, "I don't advocate censoring him." Which makes me wonder why you're being so defensive about that.

I don't have a problem with your posts at all. If those are his words then they are fair game. I'm responding to those who think he should be banned from the site.

Not exactly "well-thought out and intelligent" now were they? This troll's confrontational manner and lack of maturity should preclude him from posting any more his inane comments. This forum is a medium of communication between mature individuals. If he wants to PM his comments to certain individuals, that's fine. But his negative, confrontational attitude has no place in this public forum. With that said, I do hope any more posts in this thread will take on a more mature tone for now on. After all, we are all doctors/soon-to-be doctors, right?
 
As Kimberli said, singling out a member like this is a TOS violation. Since the thread has not changed direction or died a quiet death, I'm going ahead and closing it.
