To those who matched in derm (or didn't match)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1. As early as possible. If you do a good job, you will be remembered. I did my first away before June and I was remembered very well by the time I interviewed the following January. You have to be a hard worker and be proactive on the rotation. You may be limited by how early you are able to schedule your rotation.

2. I turned in my applications into the third week of September and got more than enough interviews. It's a balance of turning it in too early so that you don't add in all the publications that you can and turning in too late so that your application is too late.

1. Anytime between now and the end of October. November things start to get a little hairy with interviews, and you don't want to be constantly leaving for them (prelim and derm).

2. I submitted on Sept 1, but I think it would have been fine any time in September.

1. July, August, September
2. Mid-September

Do your aways as early as possible so you can get your letters in without stressing your letter-writer.
