….or at least the thread is.

I'm just curious to know why a thread gets locked. The only thing I saw moderators post is that there were complaints. Was anyone ever warned individually? Were there ever any public indications about what types of posts needed to be curtailed to prevent the thread from becoming locked? Just seems shady to me that people complain, about what it seems no one knows, and then the thread gets locked.

Either post a friendly reminder about TOS and what specific posts should be avoided before closing a thread, and then close it if warnings aren't taken seriously. OR, warn individuals and then suspend them if they don't stop specific behavior. But to just say there have been anonymous complaints and then lock a thread seems a bit silly to me.

Dude, I locked it temporarily a few days ago and then reopened it with caution given to everyone.

The thread had multiple complaints that I am still sorting through.

This forum is probably the most “lightly” moderated one on SDN but it was obvious certain folks were getting bent out of shape and posting some stuff that some folks found very offensive.

Nobody was going to win any of the arguments either.
