A lot of jobs advertise 8-12 weeks of vacation per year, some even more. But the reality may be different. The practice needs to get the job done, and in most cases they are under contractual obligation to provide certain level of service volume to hospitals. If there is too much work, and too few people, do you think you'll be taking those 12 weeks off? Especially, once you make partner, you may be forced to work very very hard for the practice to honor it's obligations. I know of many practices that advertise enourmous amounts of vacation, but in reality you'll be able to take 1/2 to 1/4 of what's on paper.
