Are there any Canadians out there (or non-Americans) who are currently in their Residency years? If so, what VISAs do you have and what residency programs are you at. Some of the residencies that I have spoke to will not sponsor a student for a VISA, but may accept a student if they have a valid VISA. Any help regarding this whole issue would be great. Thanks.

I am not Canadian but I do love the Mackenzie brothers.

As for VISA info, if you go onto the CASPR/CRIP website. Each residency program has VISA information listed on the program description. There may also be more info listed somewhere in that website or a contact email maybe listed.

I took a look at that, but most programs do not specify what VISA they consider valid or if they sponsor non-Americans. Do you know of another source to get this information? Thanks.

I'm not a current resident but I know that your current school should be able to sponsor you for the residency years - I forget the exact designation of that visa but I'm pretty sure by the end of your fourth year, the school can sponsor you for 3 more years since you are undergoing educational training. With that visa, the residency programs (some of them) can sponsor you with an H-1 working visa but this takes a while - upto 2 years I believe.
