Is the pathophysiology of a diabetic mother's child with macrosomia due to insulin, insulin like growth factor or growth hormone? Thanks 👍

In a mother whose diabetes is not controlled sugar is increased in the serum (>125 mg/dl) of the mother and baby. The baby's islets of langherans hypertrophy in response to the excess sugar coming through the placenta. More glucose into cells due to increased insulin in baby and wullah MACROSOMIA... What I found was really interesting is that after birth these very babies are prone to hypoglycemia and the various complications of hypoglycemia such as seizures, respiratory distress and so many other problems because of the lack of high glucose filled blood coming through the placenta from the mom and the maintained high levels of insulin in the baby due to pancreatic hyperplasia. The management of such a baby is to monitor blood glucose and give extra glucose incase the baby needs it. Over a period of days to weeks the insulin levels will stabalize and the baby can go on a normal diet of breast milk, breast milk, and more breast milk....
