hehe, bad news is everyone is 24 + apparently in podiatry school.

Money matters a little I think the older you get the more it matters. Appearance and personality seemed to matter way more in undergrad.
 
Update folks: So the news is midwestern has victorias secret models apparently. Everyone was so good looking. Its a larger school. Lots of nursing, PT, CRNA, etc students

Im sure they have a facebook page for each school. Uh I think the student ambassador did mention not everyone was single in the pod school though. A good 15 or so people are already married, but theres still a large pool of folks from all over (nursing etc)

I currently go to KSUCPM. The school has its problems, and I don't mind seeing those discussed here. What I do mind, is adding a bunch of immature, weak, short sighted, internet macho men who are objectifying the PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL SCHOOL women that I'm willing to bet they're too scared to talk to in real life. We don't need to add that problem to Kent. So if you're one of the maturity challenged already first years talking like this, then I sincerely hope you change your views or that you don't make it past this first semester. For those that interviewed and were so scared they were shaking in their oversized suits, but somehow got the courage to get on here and talk about the women that bust their ass every day in school next to me: I hope you don't get in anywhere.

We don't need anymore problems at our school. I'm pretty sure one of the above posters is a first year who was asked not to post anymore on the school Facebook for giving out Viagra recipes and "semen taste enhancers". So prospective students: that is the type of person you are associating with. Just think about that, and try to examkne the way youre thinking. Because this profession doesn't care what you look like, if you come with the wrong attitude (like the idiotic one you have) it will throw you on the street with debt and nothing to show for it.

And don't say it was a joke. It's not, we can read what you wrote. It's not funny anyways.

This is not the kind of discussion that should be happening here. And I really can't believe it was allowed.

He thinks its me I honestly have nothing to do with it lol. I was just legitimately asking what the dating life is like, and thats a topic a few of the schools Ive interviewed at (all actually except Kent do touch upon in their orientation/interview sessions)

Congratulations to those of you who have been accepted to Kent welcome to the family!!! I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself to you all... Currently I am a 3rd year FEMALE student at Kent, as well sit on a few exec boards so Im pretty connected around campus. So its only right that I drop off some SUPER IMPORTANT facts that you will need for your 4 years here on campus.

1. The women here at Kent or the "cuddle buddies" that you loosely referred to us as CAN READ and we have access to the INTERNET.
2. Because we CAN READ and have access to the INTERNET we have already seen this "hella creepy peeping Tom lurking in the bushes "type of a post.
3. Also the girls here are soooooooooo smart that they will see you coming from a mile away...and have already figured out 6 ways to curb you and clown you all in the same breath.
Knowing these 3 facts are hands down the keys to success here at KSUCPM

Again welcome and best of luck in your endeavors

Im going to just try to keep cool and say sorry if I offended you folks by asking what the dating life in pod school was like or things of the alike? It was just a genuinely (and true) fun post to ask what the dating life is like in podiatry/medical school?
I thought we (or at least I did), make it clear I'm not looking to just jump from bush to bush trying to hook up, it was a question I had though.

School is an important thing, and medical school is a busy time, most of the students are in their 20's, and its an age when people settle down. Kent was the only school that didn't discuss what it was like, but all the other schools did discuss something about how social life is for different people on campus. Single people hang out here, married folks live off campus, people with S/O's and pets live close by etc etc.

I was also hoping for some other discussion to stem off, what its like for people with S/O's and going through medical school and balancing a relationship, didnt happen though.
It does seem like you and the other person before are pals the way he started spewing out hate and saying things like " I hope you never get into medical school", or "cant even talk to a girl in real life" with your post about "spotting a guy a mile away and clowning them"

Anyway, thanks for your input, might be wise for me to chose a legitimately more mature school that can take a joke.

I will NOT be going to Kent. I liked the school, the facilities, the students seemed friendly, they wanted to know the interviewers and meet them, both guys and girls. This is a relationship topic post, and Im not reserved to dating someone from med school (although it would be nice to avoid long distance amongst other things), but the quality of students matters. I am more interested in having friendly classmates who can take a joke or two, relax, and not judge each other. The guy above, started saying all these judgmental things just by such simple things in this thread. No one was talking about the women's body parts or anything else in Kent State, nothing sexual. The three main parts were women are cute at Kent, what is dating life like in med school, and cuddling.

So so far I have a guy who thinks the above topics are taboo, and certainly mean that person is "Maturity challenged", "shaking in suits", "cant talk to a girl" and then you, who wants to spot people, "figured out 6 ways to curb you and clown you all in the same breath". And the student ambassadors, and (I guess just by luck) the students I met during the tour seemed to be very friendly people. Ever.

One joke (and a light one really), tells you Im a "creep", yet as a student representative you guys hope for others to fail. Man what does that say about your school?

Thread wasn't intended to offend anyone. At all. This is a topic that some do care about considering you're in school around the age most people start looking to settle down, so it doesn't hurt to keep your eyes open for these things.

It seems your frustration stems from the fact that an incident occurred at the school with one of the male students. With the exception of Bobtheweazel, none of the contributors on this thread--including the OP--are in pod school yet. And Bob does not attend Kent. Neither did he make any offensive comments.

I really don't see what there is to get upset about? No names or pornographic content involving current / past students were uploaded here.

SDN mods are very good at what they do. This thread not being locked shows there's really no violation of any forum rules.

We didn't mean any insults or disrespect. The OP just passed a compliment that the women he saw at the school are very attractive.

Seems like a good time to remind everyone of a few things:
1. Use the "ignore" function if you don't want to deal with a specific member
2. Report things that you think need to come to the moderators attention - we review all reports even if you don't see any visible action
3. Assume that people will figure out who you are at some point so if you don't want your comments associated with you IRL, don't say them

After talking to the "third year student" in private messages she says your posts disturbed her about the hook up culture. I would just ignore these two people like the moderator suggested. It's sad shes disturbed by "xyz" comment and can't actually address it in her post, instead she zones in on "cuddle buddy", and assuming people on here are creeps. (What if one of us looks like Chris Hemsworth or Ryan Gossling, she can keep looking for the creep in the bushes).
Youre probably right that they are frustrated from something a male student did at Kent, which is ridiculous for a class page, but I don't see why an advertisement for Viagra pills would make the ladies cringe either. Does this mean every Viagra and ciallis commercial on TV is taboo as well? The first person just spewed out a bunch of poorly written hate comments. Those kinds of people are usually lonely anyway and try to cause any types of drama they can.

All this said I have heard Ohio is a pretty conservative state and that may be what elicited such a response from some of the students. From my experience at Kent a lot of the people were really chill. Even talking to a few of the Kent Students Ive met over time, they seem to party a little on the weekends, go to bars, and behave like any other regular group of college/medical school aged folks.
It's funny because while at Kent state the student ambassadors were telling us things like "oh the pool table/ping pong room is for guys only pretty much, and other sexist things), yet this post disturbed them.
There are always a few bad apples in every batch, lets just hope they dont spoil the rest.

The butthurt is real with this one. I don't think that anyone thinks that the topics that you have brought up are taboo, just that the way they were brought up in this thread sound really weird and cringeworthy. You're getting all bent out of shape because of something someone said on the internet.

Im not butthurt. I think its pretty disgusting people think the way the folks from Kent do. Pretty scary to think those could be your classmates.

Im actually interested in eventually meeting these folks and seeing them argue/say these things to someone in real life.

Lol What is there to be upset about though? Women enjoy "flings" as much as men do and in some cases even more! My intentions are quite clear - I don't want anything serious and just want to have fun with another adult with consent. I don't see any reason why this should make her upset. Should I rather tell women I'm looking for a wife / something serious and then leave them after I get what I want?

Things were just blown out of proportion. And one person seems like they're taking out their anger from a different incident on us. Another person is taking my words personal.

Honestly, I still maintain my stance that we're not breaking any SDN rules.

What exactly about this thread makes you cringe though? It's mostly just light humor from the regular participants here on the podiatry sub section (at least that's how I see it).

I didn't think this thread could get worse but my expectations have been exceeded. Remember--ANYONE can read these threads. We're a small community. Let's at least try and represent ourselves professionally on here...especially for those of you haven't even started school yet.

This thread is pretty civil. Its a genuine question as I and others have stated before. for the most part it was relevant information. All of a sudden a bunch of Kent kids come in and reprimand us for talking about this. Im guessing they were upset with Dr Phoot and I, and both of us responded pretty maturely (unlike the Kent kids) and apologized, when we really shouldn't have.
People hook up, people date, people cuddle, people do all sorts of things, and people at Kent need to accept it and get over it.

What I should have said is told the 3rd year that Im not into bestiality and she doesn't have to worry because I wont be hitting on her anyway. But I didnt. On the other hand they did go beyond the limit.

So instead of coming in and just yelling that this is inappropriate, how about you actually answer the original question???
