How do programs factor in your Step 2 score when it comes to cutoffs for interview offers?

Some programs use an algorithm to incorporate gpa, board scores, etc. but for the most part if a program posts a minimum board score (i.e. Harvard) they mean it. I haven't heard of programs 'averaging' board scores but I'm sure some look at both of them.
A lot depends on the field - I'm sure ortho would be less flexible with board scores than psych

Although a lot is made of good Step 2 scores making up for Step 1 scores I think that this really doesn't affect PDs much - unless you bomb Step 1 and ace Step 2 then they are just going to go with the Step 1 score.

i believe Step 2 is viewed by PDs with the same importance or even more important than Step 1, in the case of IMGs.

Just as an addendum, the program's side of ERAS may use filters and automatically exclude applicants that have scores below X, so if they set scores and are using this option, a human being may not even lay eyes on your application. It also probably depends on how many applicants they have, imagine if they have thousands (which some programs do), then it makes sense to filter like this....
