RAVE HERE thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1) I got a 100 on my Anat & Phys lab final! wOOt

2) After my lecture final tomorrow I get to go home for 2 weeks before Fall semester starts. I will be working 50 hrs a week plus doing 2 petsitting jobs so I will make a lot of money ( I only have $50 to my name atm)

1. i just found out that even though i did not so great last semester, i still qualify for my $2500 renewable scholarship. wooo, money...my checking account has $16 in it right now haha.

2. i just introduced my cat (who's about 1 year old) to my family's dog, who is a 7 (almost 8!) year old german shepherd mix, and not too friendly/outgoing with people or animals she doesn't know. they seem to be getting along well! she hasn't tried to eat him or kill him yet so that's a positive sign!👍 i'm super excited, but keeping them in separate rooms for now. they only interacted when the cat was safely in his carrier or my arms, but either way...baby steps! i was fully expecting her to lunge at him and try to eat him, based on her pretty strong prey drive. if i can bring them both to school with me this year i will be SUPER EXCITED!😍

First day of orientation done yesterday - had soooo much fun (even though I was sick of speakers by 5 pm) and am getting pumped for classes to actually start. The boy is here after three weeks since our last visit, my mom comes to town tonight, we're eating tasty Carolina BBQ for dinner, and I have my white coat ceremony tomorrow afternoon! Woooo! 😀

*Sigh of Relief* All of my eLors are DONE. That' one thing that this type A personality won't have to worry about for the next 2 months. :woot:

On a side note, I think this little icon is effing hilarious: :beat:

Back to pre-celebrating my 25th birthday!

I made it to UF and am so excited to be starting vet school next week!!!! I cannot believe it!! Congratulations and good luck to all of you as you follow your dreams!

I got back my organic test that I was talking about before (see the rant thread!) and I ended up with an 89!!! So excited! I have a 94 average in the class and I only have one quiz and my final left to take!

So great NStarz!! :highfive: way to kick some butt!

You're smart

Way to go! My professor can't have people doing well in his class, so I'm hoping my 61.2% will hold as the B he says it will in the class. (60-high 70s is an A). I need to rock the final, though. Best of luck on yours!

My 'rave' was actually going to be about having finished my last lab for Orgo II, so I'm glad there's a lot of orgo-II-owning going on out there 😉

Thank you so much for the support, guys! It means a lot. I'm actually really surprised because I got a D+ in orgo II the first time around and now I have an A!!!!! 😱 One more day of class and then the final, and I am going to have an organic chemistry bonfire and watch my textbook and notes turn to ashes. Muahahahahaha. I can't wait to put this all behind me 😀

Just bought my last parking pass for UT ever. I also only have 3 days left on large animal rotations. Not that I've disliked it, but I am definitely not a horse person (sorry horse people!)😀.

And my financial aid finally came through - it was having issues.

Today was a good day. And good job NStarz on orgo!

Yesterday was my first experience shadowing a vet. It was awesome!!!! I can't wait to go back next Thursday! :soexcited:

Since I wrote on the rants thread, I figured I'd write on here as well.

I love my coworkers. Most of them at least. We get along very well, are always there to help each other, and the days just seem to pass by quickly. Even right now, when we don't have a kennel technician, we're getting everything done efficiently! There are always some times when we get stressed and take out some frustration on each other...but at the end of the day we're like a family. We go out after work, we go to lunch together, we talk to each other on the phone. Anyway, I just wanted to rave a little bit after my rant

I start my receptionist job tomorrow!!!! I am PSYCHED! It is my first job in the veterinary field :soexcited: My dog ate my scrubs though.... soooo that isn't so cool... $75 bucks down the drain... buuut anyway! lol

You spent $75 on a pair of scrubs?
😱

I was just about to say the exact same thing!!
I get mine at Walmart...it's like $10 for a top and $20 for bottoms. I hate walmart but they have cheap scrubs

Probably bought multiple pairs. Can't see buying one pair for $75 but 4 or 5? That's about what mine cost.

Ohhhhh my heavens a lovely present to wake up to.

One of the professors on campus wants to meet with me to talk about a research opportunity in his lab. Whee! 😀😱😀

It's awesome since I'm a transfer student and start there officially in a week! I emailed him because he says in his bio that he encourages it, annnddd it's exactly the subject I want! It's called biogeochemistry (mouthful) and he studies the levels of like nitrogen and phosphates in lakes/oceans/watershedthings up here in the good ol' Northwest. ;D He also has projects in Mexico and I believe Canada, too! I'd get research experience on my application, yes!

Gaaaaaaaah! Now if I can avoid getting the "real" job that my mother wants (though the ratios are fantastic...one NAC to SIX RESIDENTS? I'M DREAMING) but would take up all my time...CNA work is brutal. I'm so burnt out from my last job that it's practically traumatizing to consider going back into what could be the same environment.

And I find out if I get a workstudy job in the daycare today! Awesome. I love little kiddos. Fingers crossed! 👍 No veterinary experience /yet/, but I'm getting there.

In only our second tournament together, my hockey team managed to beat 2 teams who have been playing together for quite some time, 1 of which has gone to the USA Hockey Women's C national championship game. We ended up losing to that team on our second game against them in the tournament championship, but beating them once was pretty huge for a team that has only been together since April.

And I am not all that sore for having played 5 hockey games this weekend! My throat hurts the most from yelling on the ice!

I'm officially DONE WITH ORGANIC CHEMISTRY!!!!!!!! Pretty sure I bombed the final (it was ACS 🙁), but there will be a curve and I had a 95 going into it! No more electrophiles and nulceophiles and SN1 and SN2! I feel like a new woman!

I have safely arrived in Edinburgh after 7 stressful days on the Queen Mary 2. One of my little buggers got sick and pretty dehydrated.....he is much better and I am HERE!

And, i think i found an awesome flat to rent today...can't wait to seal the deal and move in.

My final is on Thursday. I will be joining you for the bonfire of textbooks and notes!

FINISHED with PHYSICS FOREVER and ended up getting an "A" in both Physics I & II!!!!!!!! So excited I am pretty sure I am having a book and notebook burning party...also I think I will be including all my ecology stuff in that bonfire 🙂 NO more PHYSICS!!!!!!! I am also going on vacation in a week down to SC to see my parents and our newly bought 20 acre farm 🙂

Changed my SDN status from pre-vet to Veterinary student as school kicks off (unofficially) with our our Intro to Dairy Systems Production seminar. Cows are big!

Found an awesome new ring tone.

It's the little things....

gonna milk a cow tomorrow!! with startingovervet and gellabella!! yayyyy!!

No it was two pair... my dog ate both tops and a pair of pants... so... yeah... majority of $75 gone. 👎 and then I came home to her eating the entire bag of cat food that's $25 for a 8lb bag... gotta love big dogs when they miss you... lol

I changed my status to veterinary student. Orientation starts tomorrow morning. All day long, fun!

My house is finally starting to feel like a home. I still need some furniture, but my loan money should be here soon so I can take care of that.

New dog is settling in well-- haven't had a problem with him at all, and am =very= surprised at the way the two dogs are getting along. Best friends from the start, no squabbles for "power" or anything like that.

And last but not least, I got the new iPhone! it's amazing 🙂

That's WONDERFUL! my dogs don't get along very well and it breaks my heart, i love them both so much, and they'd rather the other drop dead.. 🙄

yeppp same thing. one is living with my mom right now cause when we have them living together, they have to be kept in separate rooms unless someone is keeping a close eye on them, or they will attack each other. they are both chihuahua mixes - they were the two of my many fosters that got to stay. but both want to be queen of the house and don't want the other around. why can't all dogs just get along?

Having two dogs that don't get along sucks, I agree (my two have been fighting since my male turned about 2. They're mostly better now, but still can't be together while they're eating or when we have company over).

However... All dogs won't get along because dogs are like people. Do you ever just meet someone you can't stand? We're allowed to not like certain people, so why aren't our dogs allowed to feel the same way about their own species?

I survived the first day of orientation! My brain feels like mush from all of the info we were presented with today, but I am soooo excited to get started with classes. We are doing a ropes course tomorrow that I am really looking forward to!

my two fight over my attention and food mostly, otherwise they are alright... or if Lyla (My dane) steps on Tegan (the corgi) all hell breaks loose for a good 30 seconds...

I am also DONE with ochem FOREVER! I have never been so happy about a C in my life.

After a year of working everyday for 13 to 16 hours a day, I am finally off for the next 32 days. "Off" is a relative term because I'll be spending the time attached to the hip of a vet. Maybe I can finally lay the paving stones that have been on a pallet in my back yard since SEP 06.

Looks like I'm getting an A- in ochem II!!!! (She may bump me up to an A but I'm perfectly happy with an A)!

Just finished a 6 week General Chemistry course (worth 6 credits). It's normally done from September-April and I got it done in 6 weeks!

Finished with a B+ .. was only 2 points away from an A, but I can live with that. Just so excited to have it out of the way !!

This is freaking awesome. Both semesters of chem in 6 weeks?! Wow. Must have been tough, you should be proud of that B+!😀

Just got my cornelia marie t-shirt!!!!!! Anyone who watchest deadliest catch knows what I am talking about 🙂

I just finished orientation and start clinics on Monday! 🙂

Oh yes.. 2 semesters of Gen Chem done in 6 weeks. I ate, slept and breathed chemistry during the 6 week span. I liked to refer to it as "Chemistry immersion" because my schedule was so full.

This "chemistry immersion" was every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. The lecture component of the class ran from 8:30 every morning to 11:30, and the labs ran from 1:30-4:30.

It was extremely difficult to get all of the material covered in the short 6 week period.. although the professor was nothing short of awesome and made the experience bearable, he was extremely helpful. Sure, I gave up 6 weeks of summer, but now it's over with and I have two classes I wasn't exactly looking forward to out of the way forever.

Never have I ever been so proud of a B+... LOL

I just got my Dean's List notification for the summer... It made me really happy.

I finished all my summer classes with As. 🙂))))

I started vet school and met a lot of people and it's been really fun so far!

Also, my boyfriend found a job that will pay well enough that he could pay all of our bills if he wanted to. 🙂
